Anyone wishing to Join SCSAR must first complete a background check through Verified Volunteers .  To request your background check, please call 864-595-5368 or fill out the form below.  In addition to passing the background check, one must also complete the following course prerequisites:

• IS-100.c - Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100

• IS-200.c - https://training.fema.gov/IS/courseOverview.aspx?code=IS-200.c

• IS 317 (Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams) + CERT Exercise or Actual CERT Class (provided by us)

• IS-700.b An Introduction to the National Incident Management System

• IS-800.d National Response Framework, An Introduction

• CPR/First Aid or higher certification – (SCSAR will provide)

• NASAR FUNSAR/SARII (SARII only required for Ground/K9 members) SCSAR will provide

• Wilderness First Aid (only required for Ground/K9 members) SCSAR will provide

From the time you pass your background check, you have 1 year to complete the above requirements.
